MarVista User Onboarding Guide to Fox Entertainment Studios
What's going on?
MarVista Users are joining forces under Fox Entertainment Studios umbrella and our Teams are merging.
This means our Fox Entertainment Engineers are providing new Parsec computers to replace your current ones.
You will Parsec into new machines and use our Elements Storage as we are no longer using Qumulo.
You also have our Team as a resource for Support.

Signing Into Parsec Procedure:
1. Locate your machine in Parsec and hit Connect.
If you are starting at the beginning of your day, you will see the orange "Authenticate Now" button across the top. Click that and hit "Authorize" when transferred to Okta. This process happens every day.
Pro Tip: use the Filter and search for your Computer, it will retain the next time you log in and make it easier to see just your computer from your Group of computers.
At this Log in screen, enter your full Fox email and same Okta Password:
** Parsec may disconnect you after you hit Log In **
It will look like the below image. Hit the yellow bar for "Dismiss" and in a few seconds your machine will reappear to Connect again. This is a weird quirk with Parsec on Mac Host.
Using Elements
This is our Fox Entertainment central storage for all shared files. It is a copy of your former Qumulo.
1. On a rare occassion this Elements Server Address may be needed (although it should retain).
Server Address: elements.fox
2. Enter your full Fox email and Okta Password to sign in. Click "Remember Password".
3. Click on the name of your Elements Workspace to mount it.
Notice the green color on "Operations" which is now a mounted Elements Workspace.
Likewise when you are done for your day, remember to close all Applications and click on the Elements Workspace to unmount it before you Log Out.
Notice that the green color on "Operations" is now gone - the Elements Workspace is unmounted and you are ready to Log Out of the computer.
Quit the Elements App when you are ready to Log Out of the computer for the day.
Support Channel In Slack: et-help
You are all in a new slack channel for support called "et-help".
Please note that this is a giant channel with every Group that we support.
Here is an example of a great support request:
The important things are Sally is stating she needs help rebooting her machine, then states exactly what the machine name is: FEAWS-CRD01.
Not CRD01, or 01 but "FEAWS-CRD01". We have many machine names that are similar so reporting that you need help on your full computer name is really helpful.
Next, notice that Sally posted only 1 time in the giant et-help slack. From there we did the whole conversation within a thread. Threading is important because if she posted multiple times to the larger channel, it pings every user every time.
Please do your part to request help remembering to state your full computer name and thread the conversation.
Proper End Of Day Logout Procedure
You are done for the day - there are no downloads to run overnight or exports that need to keep running.
The best way to wrap up is to Log Out of your computer > which will Disconnect you from Parsec.
Instead of just Disconnecting from Parsec.
Signing out of your User account will ensure that the computer gets proper rest and starts fresh the next time you log in.
If you just Disconnect from Parsec, the machine runs and never gets a break, eventually will go offline and you'll need us to reboot it.
Proper Logging Out of your User:
INSTEAD of Disconnecting from Parsec, like this:
If you constantly need to ask for help with your computer because it's not listed in Parsec, offline or needs a reboot, it's probably because you are not Logging Out properly. Please give this consideration.
Forumbee: An Awesome Resource
You are reading this help article right now on Forumbee. This is a great resource for looking up questions - a help article may be already written that can answer your question quickly with photos.
Please consider searching for your questions here in Forumbee. If you have requests for Help Articles you can't find here, you can request them in et-help slack channel.
