Shutterstock, Pond5, TurboSquid, & Splash Overview

đź“— Introduction and Overview of Shutterstock Licensing at Fox

In today's fast-paced media environment, having access to a vast library of creative assets is essential for driving innovation and efficiency at Fox.

Fox Corporation holds enterprise-level licenses with Shutterstock and its associated companies, including Pond5, TurboSquid, and Splash, as part of a global portfolio. These agreements enable FOX users to access a wide range of creative assets—images, videos, music, sound effects, and 3D models—under favorable terms, including full indemnification. This indemnification means we are protected legally and financially from any damages should anyone claim we don't have rights to assets licensed from one of these accounts. This guide explains the available licenses, how to access content, and how to stay compliant when using these resources.

🛠️ How to Request Access to Shutterstock

To gain access to Shutterstock, users must submit an onboarding request through the following link: go.fox/shutterstock. Once the request is submitted, it will need to be approved by the user's business division’s admin.

đź“‘ Managing Licenses & Compliance

When utilizing Shutterstock or related platforms, you must adhere to FOX’s internal guidelines:

  • Comps Usage: Only use comp assets for testing purposes in mockups or layouts. Ensure that the assets are properly licensed before using them in any final work product.
  • Indemnification: FOX is fully indemnified for all licensed Shutterstock and Pond5 assets, protecting against improper licensing claims.
  • Metadata: Be sure to input all relevant metadata (Business Unit, Client, Job) during the licensing process for proper internal tracking.

🤖 Special Features: AI-Generated Content

Shutterstock now provides AI-generated images via the "Generate" tab on its platform. These images are created using Shutterstock’s licensed library, and they come with the same indemnification as other stock assets.

Steps for AI Image Licensing:

  1. Create an image using custom prompts in the AI Image Generator.
  2. Submit the generated image for internal review.
  3. Once approved, proceed to license the image for use.
